Lord Shaftesbury (1888)
A 12x10 negative. A slightly distant starboard near broadside view, taken from just abaft the beam, of the 4 masted barque rigged general cargo sailing vessel Lord Shaftesbury (1888) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She is working cargo with two covered lighters alongside her forward holds on the starboard side and a spritsail barge alongside amidships on her port side. She has painted ports and is rigged with double topsails, double topgallants and single royals. Moored in the right foreground is a vessel converted into an accommodation vessel with all of her former sail rig removed and a large cabin added on deck. Tilbury is in the background.
