Melbourne (1875)
A whole plate negative. A negative made by Gould of a painting by an unknown artist depicting a port broadside view of the 3 masted ship rigged vessel Melbourne (1875). She is shown under sail at sea being escorted by a two funnelled paddle tug. Both vessels are flying Green's Blackwall Line house flag. The Melbourne (1875) has her courses, royals and mizzen topgallants furled. The emulsion of the negative is cracked. Negatives numbers G1313 and G1564 are also copies of this painting.
