Palestine (1863)
A whole plate negative. A distant port side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the 3 masted barque rigged vessel Palestine (1863) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She is rigged with double topsails, single topgallants, royals and skysails on her fore and main masts. A clinker built, lug sailed boat is alongside amidships. East Tilbury Marshes are in the background. NB: This is not the barque that Joseph Conrad signed on in April 1881. That Palestine was built at Sunderland in 1857)
