St Katharine's Docks, from the Basin
Steel engraving entitled 'St Katharine's Docks, from the Basin'. 'Plate 158' appears below Shepherd's name, lower left. This is a plate from a London a topographical series, for which he and others of his family were well known, but which one remains to be clarified. St Katherine's Dock, east of the Tower of London was planned by Thomas Telford and constructed by Hardwick in 1827-28. Though the buildings around it are now largely modern it remains in use for leisure craft.
