A whole plate negative. A port side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the 3 masted ship rigged vessel True Briton (1861) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She is rigged with double topsails, single topgallants and no royals and has 12 painted ports. She has a livestock shed on deck abaft the foremast and she is flying a blue peter and her houseflag. A swim-headed stumpy spritsail barge is alongside amidships. Tilbury is in the background and the Coast Guard Watch Vessel CGWV 28 (1847) is drawn up on shore. The True Briton (1861) arrived at Gravesend from London on the 23rd and sailed for Melbourne on 26 August 1871.
