Ardeer (1895)
A 10x8 negative. A slightly distant port side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the spritsail rigged general cargo barge Ardeer (1895) under sail in the Thames Estuary during the Thames Barge Match. She is on the port tack with her lee board raised and she has her race number 8 flag on her forestay. Her crew are dressed in white trousers. The top of her mast is out of the picture. Three other barges and a steamer are in the right distance. The original 12x10 glass plate negative has been broken and discarded and this negative is a copy of a photographic print made before the original negative was damaged.
