Thames Barge Match 1986. Arthur (1895); Rowland (1895)
A 12x10 negative. A slightly distant port quarter view of the general cargo spritsail rigged barges Arthur (1895) and Rowland (1895) during the Thames Barge Match of 1896. The Rowland (1895) is on the right of the picture. Both barges have their leeboards raised. Other barges, a topsail scgooner and a brig are in the distance. The photograph is said to have been taken from the deck of a vessel named Penzance.
