Clara (1896); James Piper (1894)
A 12x10 negative. A starboard quarter view, taken from wide of the stern, of the two spritsail rigged general cargo barges Clara (1896) and James Piper (1894) under sail in the Thames Estuary during the Thames Barge Match from Gravesend Reach to the Mouse and back. They are both on the port tack with lee boards down and they both have their race number flag on their forestay. Their crews are in whites. The Clara (1896) is the barge on the right.
