Giralda (1897)
A 12x10 negative. A port near broadside view, taken from just abaft the beam, of the general cargo spritsail rigged barge Giralda (1897) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. Her bowsprit is topped and she has her mizzen sail set. She is displaying her six Champion Barge trophy flags that she had won up to 1900. They are for the 1897, 1898, 1899 and 1900 Thames Matches and the 1898 and 1900 Medway Matches. The woman with the baby on deck is Mrs Mitchell, the wife of the skipper's son. The short man in the centre of the group of three standing men is Percy William Mitchell.
