Sirdar (1898); Lord Nelson (1898)
A half plate negative. A starboard near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the spritsail barges Sirdar (1898) and Lord Nelson (1898) racing in the lower reaches of the Thames during the Thames Barge Match. The Sirdar (1898) has the race number 2 flag on her foretopmast stay and the Lord Nelson (18980 has the race number 6 flag. They are in light winds, as indicated by the slack sails. The crew of the Sirdar (1898) are in racing whites. The Lord Nelson (1898) is almost within touching distance of the port side of the Sirdar (1898).
