View of Greenwich, in Kent
The view of Greenwich depicts the Royal Hospital to the right and St. Alfege's Church to the left, as well as ships and barges on the river. The view of Deptford shows three ships on the stocks. Apart from the Royal Dockyard, Deptford was also the location of several private establishments that built ships for the Admiralty. The busy shipping scene in the foreground includes a small fishing boat pulling in its nets. Technique includes etching.
