'The Hall of Greenwich Hospital, Kent'

A view of the dome and north-east corner of the King William Court of Greenwich Hospital, with the Painted Hall north facade behind, taken from abreast of the matching north-west corner of the Queen Mary Court (including the Chapel) which appears on the left. The south corner of the King Charles Court is on the right and down the road separating it from the Hall are the Hospital west gates in their original position, closing off the former drying yard to the west, with Stuart's Hospital Infirmary on the left of the roadway beyond. The gates were moved west to their present position beyond Stuart's building in 1850. Pensioners and sightseeing visitors are seen in the foreground, with one figure climbing the steps to the Upper Grand Square. For a small, related drawing see PAD2245.
