The Right Hone George Rooke
A bust-length portrait of George Rooke (c. 1650–1709) in a long wig and armour. Lettered beneath the image with the title: ‘The Right Hone. Geore Rooke.’ Also lettered with the production details: ‘Dahll pinx. / Harding sc.’ This portrait was engraved by Sylvester Harding after an oil painting by Michael Dahl, which had previously been engraved by Robert Williams and published by John Smith (see PAD4692). The print was published by the engraver’s brother, Edward Harding, on 1 November 1799. This impression has been cut down, removing the publication line. (Updated May 2019.)
