The Honble. Edwd. Boscawen
Portrait.
A bust-length portrait of Edward Boscawen (1711–1761) in flag officer’s undress uniform, 1748–1767. Lettered beneath the image ‘Harding sc.’ and ‘The Honble Edwd Boscawen’. This print was engraved by Sylvester Harding and published by his brother Edward Harding on 1 April 1800. The portrait is ultimately derived from an original painting by Joshua Reynolds, produced in 1755–7 (see BHC2565 for a nineteenth-century copy of this painting). Harding probably worked from an earlier print after Reynolds’s portrait. (Updated April 2019.)
