George Lord Anson
A bust-length portrait of George Anson (1697–1762) in flag officer’s undress uniform, 1748–1767. Lettered beneath the image with the title, ‘George Lord Anson’, and the publication line, ‘Pub May 1 1802 by E Harding 98 Pall Mall’. This print was engraved by Sylvester Harding and published by his brother Edward Harding on 1 May 1802. The portrait is derived from Jacob Houbraken’s mid-eighteenth-century print, which was itself after a portrait by Jan Wandelaar (see PAD4667). (Updated May 2019.)
