The Right Honble Visct Keppel Admiral of the White Squadron
An oval bust-length portrait of Augustus Keppel (1725–1786) looking to right in a dark coat with one button fastened across his chest. Lettered beneath the image with the sitter’s coat of arms and the title, ‘The Right Honble. Visct. Keppel, Admiral of the White Squadron.’ Also lettered with the production details and publication line, ‘Romney pinx. / Ridley sc. / Pub. by Bunney & Gold Shoe Lane 1 May 1802.’ This portrait was engraved by William Ridley in 1779 after George Romney’s oil painting of 1776, now at Goodwood House.
