Tilbury Fort Watergate, Essex
A 10x8 negative. The main entrance gate to Tilbury Fort, known as the Watergate. The photographer is looking north-north-east. The stonework of the Watergate is in a pitted and dirty condition. Members of the garrison are posing for the camera and these include a soldier in full uniform holding his daughter and another soldier in shirt sleeves with his child beside him. A vertical format image. Negative number G664 was taken on the same occasion.
