A 10x8 negative. The main entrance gate to Tilbury Fort, known as the Watergate. The stonework is in a pitted and dirty condition. Members of the garrison are posing for the camera, with two of the men standing on the Watergate above the columns. Two soldiers in full uniform are holding their daughters. The photographer is looking north-north-east. A vertical format image. Negative number G663 was taken on the same occasion.
