Unidentified 3 masted Ship
A 12x10 negative. A fair quality port quarter view, taken from wide off the stern, of an unidentified 3 masted ship rigged general cargo vessel under tow of a steam screw tug in the lower reaches of the River Thames, possibly in the Lower Hope or Sea Reach. The ship is bald-headed, i.e. she has double topsails and double topgallants but no royals. She is steel hulled, probably British built in the late 1880s or early 1890s, and her paintwork is in poor condition. A tattered sail appears to be hanging from her main lower topgallant yard. The image is not sharp.
