John Elder (1870)
A whole plate negative. A poor quality distant port broadside view of the passenger/cargo liner John Elder (1870) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. Her mizzen mast has been removed and the superstructure ahead of the forefunnel has been extended. She is flying the blue pater and she has three yards on each of her fore and main masts. An unidentified Ring company twin funnelled paddle tug is at anchor in the foreground and the stern of a tug is on the left. The negative is badly deteriorated.
