Dunrobin Castle (1875)
A whole plate negative. A fair quality port near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Dunrobin Castle (1875) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has two yards on each mast and her standard compass is on a tall tower on the poop. A steam launch is alongside her accommodation ladder. Tilbury is in the background. The original negative has been discarded after the emulsion lifted but a 10x8 safety film negative has been made of a 12x10 photographic print produced from the original negative in the 1950s. This print is available for scanning.
