The figures at each position line north of the final splice denote the length of cable payed out from Fanning when the observations were taken, those south of the final splice denote length of cable payed out fro Suva, but the cable figures in red at each splice & CH CO show length of cable from Fanning afte the repair in January 1927 when the cable was lengthened by 14.49 nm.
