Armillary sphere stand
Armillary sphere stand. Single stem of wood. Four foliate supports with horizon ring, detachable. Supports and under part made of bronze.
This stand could belong to the armillary sphere AST0632, the stand of which is lacking. The pin of AST0632 fits the support in the centre AST0629. However, it is not clear how the primary sphere of AST0632 could be mounted in a stable way. The stand may be of a much later date than AST0632 but this cannot be confirmed. For further information about the cartography and construction of this armillary sphere please refer to the related publication, Globes at Greenwich.
