Earl Nelson [sic]. From a Drawing in the United Service Museum - Taken from Life By Chas. Grignon At Naples 1797
A mistitled print from Grignion's drawing (PAF4381), since Nelson was only made a baron after the Battle of the Nile (1798) and died a viscount, his elder brother William then becoming 1st Earl Nelson. The place and date given for the drawing is also wrong: it was done in Palermo on 7 February 1799 (see Walker, Nelson Portraits, pp.94-5, ill.95). The source of this print is Miss H.S. Turner's 'Sixty Portraits from Unedited Originals' (no date but suggested to be circa 1835-40 by Walker, op. cit. p. 228).
