There are two, gold-coloured medals around the sitter's neck on blue cords and various awards on the sitter's jacket over the left breast. One of the awards has a blue ribbon. At the bottom of the image, going horizontally, is part of the lower jacket sleeve. Near the sitter's right shoulder is the inscription: Schmidt for à Dresde 1801.
