Horatio Nelson, 1758 - 1805, Vice-Admiral of the White
Oval, coloured print on a piece of paper. The print depicts a bust-length portrait of Horatio Nelson in uniform, but without a hat. The sitter is depicted with grey hair with his right eye blue in colour and his left eye more grey in colour. The uniform includes a blue jacket with gold buttons and epaulettes, a white shirt, black neckcloth and a red sash under the jacket. There are two, gold-coloured medals around the sitter's neck on blue cords and various awards on the sitter's jacket over the left breast. One of the awards has a blue ribbon. At the bottom of the image, going horizontally, is part of the lower jacket sleeve. Near the sitter's right shoulder is the inscription: Schmidt for à Dresde 1801. The sitter is against a green-grey background.
