From an Original Miniature in the Possession of Capt Walter Booth . Portrait of Walter Griffith, Esq. Commander of a division of his Majesty's ships and vessels at Rhode Island. Griffith (died 1779) was an officer of the Royal Navy during the American War of Independence. He was of an old family long settled in Merionethshire. The print was also published from 'Naval biography; or, The history and lives of distinguished characters in the British Navy: from the earliest period of history to the present time' (1802).
