'Revd Edmund Nelson, Rector of Burnham Thorpe, Norfk. Father of the Great Lord Nelson'
Portrait.
A print which may be after the portrait of the Reverend Edmund Nelson painted by William Beechey in 1800 (see BHC2881), though if so it has been imaginatively reworked to create the image of a much younger man with a marked likeness to Nelson himself. If from another original source, this is not known unless it is BHC3866, which appears to be an early 19th-century oil portrait: this, however, may be a copy of the print, which shows the sitter in half-length (oval format), turned slightly to right, wearing a black clerical gown with bands and his own hair.
