Lord George Anson Admiral Van Groot Brittanie
An oval bust-length portrait of George Anson (1697–1762) in flag officer’s undress uniform, 1748–1767. The portrait is surrounded by a thick frame, which is lettered in Dutch with the title: ‘Lord George Anson Admiral Van Groot Brittanje.’ Lettered beneath the image with the production and publication details: ‘J. Wandelaar effig ad viv. / te Amsterdam by P. Fouquet Junior. / J. Houbraken sculp. This portrait was engraved by Jacob Houbraken after a portrait drawn from the life by Jan Wandelaar. The print was published in the mid-eighteenth century in Amsterdam by Pierre Fouquet Junior. (Updated May 2019.)
