Revenue cutter Vigilant and barge Charlotte 13 December 1849
A 12x10 negative. A copy of a T G Dutton lithograph after J C Schetky. It is titled "Her Majesty's Revenue Cutter "Vigilant" towing her Prize the Barge "Charlotte", captured on the 13th Decr. 1849, having on board nearly 7 tons of contraband tobacco, concealed under straw." Written below the title is "This Lithograph is from a Painting by J C Schetky Esq in the possession of Captain Gowlland." The cutter is seen from off her starboard quarter under full sail approaching Greenwich on the River Thames. A number of vessels of various types, including a barque, are on the river. In the bottom left corner under the lithograph is "T.G. Dutton, Lith." In the bottom right corner is "Day & Son, Lith'rs to The Queen".
