Screw tug Manila (1895)
A 12x10 negative. A slightly distant port near broadside view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the screw tug Manila (1895) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. Her port boat is on a painter astern and her masthead navigation light is lowered. She has eight crew on deck looking at the camera man. Tilbury Ferry landing stage and railway station are in the background. The original glass plate negative has been broken and discarded. A half plate negative numbered P8539 was made in 1961 from a 12x10 photographic print produced from the original negative in the early 1950s before it was broken. This photographic print remains available for scanning.
