The passenger/cargo liner Coromandel (1885)
A 12x10 negative. A port very near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Coromandel (1885) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. The yards on her foremast have been removed and she has an awning rigged ahead of the mizzen mast. One of her crew is at the top of the foremast. The stern of a tug is close to her starboard bow, presumably ready to take a line. Tilbury is in the background. The negative has been broken and discarded. A 12x10 photographic print was produced in the 1950s from the original broken negative and is available for scanning. It shows a break right across the negative affecting all three masts of the ship.
