Akaroa (1881)
A whole plate negative. A starboard side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the 3 masted barque rigged vessel Akaroa (1881) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has painted ports and is rigged with double topsails, single topgallants and royals. She is flying the blue peter. Tilbury is in the background. Negatives numbers G1523 and G1741 were taken on the same occasion. This negative has been broken and discarded but a 12x10 photographic print produced in the 1950s before the negative was broken is available for scanning.
