Viceroy (1871)
A whole plate negative. A starboard near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Viceroy (1871) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has three masts with two yards on the foremast. An awning is rigged amidships and she is flying the blue peter. The Coast Guard Watch Vessel CGWV 28 (1847) is on the Tilbury shore in the right background. This glass plate negative has been broken and discarded but a 12x10 photographic print produced from the negative in the 1950s is available for scanning. Negatives numbers G1324 and G1330 were taken on the same occasion.
