An unidentified steam yacht belonging to the Royal London Yacht Club
A half plate negative. A port side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of an unidentified steam yacht under way in the Thames estuary. She has a black hull, a single funnel, two pole masts without gaffs or booms, a clipper stem with a spike bowsprit, a counter stern, two small ventilators ahead of the funnel and two large angled ventilators abaft the funnel. She is flush decked with a single deck white painted superstructure between the masts. Passengers in their Sunday best are sitting and standing on a viewing deck on top of the superstructure ahead of the funnel. The viewing deck is protected by wooden bulwarks at the forward end and guardrails at the aft end. An awning is rigged between the mainmast and the stern and she is flying the defaced blue ensign of the Royal London Yacht Club.
