Sorata (1872)
A whole plate negative. A fair quality starboard broadside view of the passenger/cargo liner Sorata (1872) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has an auxiliary barque rig. A lighter is alongside forward. Tilbury is in the background. The original glass plate negative has deteriorated and been discarded. A safety film negative has been produced from a 12x10 photographic print produced from the original negative in the 1950s before it deteriorated and thuis print is available for scanning.
