Unidentified spritsail barge
A half plate negative. A fair quality starboard side view, taken from well abaft the beam, of an unidentified spritsail barge under sail in the Thames estuary during a Thames or Medway barge match. She is a coasting or topsail type of barge and is running before the wind. She has her racing number flag on her forestay and her crew are in racing whites. The image is slightly unsharp. The original negative has been discarded but a 12x10 photographic print produced from the negative in the 1950s is available for scanning.
