Indus (1884)
A whole plate negative. A port near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo steamship Indus (1884) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has an auxiliary brig rig with three yards on each mast. She is carrying eight lifeboats, two of which are swung out on the port side. Tilbury is in the background. The original negative has been discarded because the emulsion peeled off but a 12x10 photographic print produced in the 1950s from the original negative is available for scanning. Negatives numbers G1927 and G1944 were taken on the same occasion.
