A whole plate negative. A starboard broadside view of an unidentified steam yacht at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She is clipper bowed with a spike bowsprit and she has figurehead and decorative trailboards. Her hull is black with a white band at deck level below the wooden bulwarks and she has a counter stern. She has a single white painted funnel and a 3 masted schooner rig. Two large boats are in davits between the foremast and the funnel and the conning position is on a raised platform ahead of the mainmast. The yacht's crew are dressed in Royal Navy style uniforms. Tilbury ferry pontoon and railway station are in the background.
