Asia (1850)
A quarter plate negative. A copy of a mounted engraving of the 3 masted ship rigged vessel Asia (1850). She is shown from off the starboard broadside under sail at sea. Her main course is shortened, the mizzen course is furled and her topgallants are not properly set. She has painted ports. Another 3 masted ship rigged vessel with painted ports is on a reciprical course in the right background. The inscription on the mount reads "Ship Asia, 2054 Tons Regs. Wm Cummings Commander". Cummings is shown as the master in the 1872 to 1874 Lloyd's Registers. A copy of whole plate negative number G2291.
