The barque 'Glenbervie', aground on Lowland Point, near the Manacles, Lizard, Cornwall
Photographic print, Gibsons of Scilly Shipwreck Collection. The ship was laden with hundreds of barrels of whisky, brandy, and rum. Her general cargo also consisted of valuable pianos, furniture, sheet iron and a bedraggled Persian cat belonging to the captain. The 16 crewmen were dragged though the water on ropes because the lifeboat could not get close enough.
