South Australian (1868)
A quarter plate negative. A copy of an undated and unsigned painting depicting the 3 masted ship rigged vessel South Australian (1868) under sail off a coastline. She is hove-to and has her inner jib, topsails and spanker set but her main topsails are aback. She has topgallants, royals and a main skysail. She is flying the pilot flag and is presumably picking up a pilot from a rowing boat close to the bow. A pilot cutter is under sail on the left. A Gould copy of a Gould photographic print from a negative that has not survived.
