On board a passenger/cargo liner at sea about 1880
A quarter plate negative. A copy of an engraving showing passengers relaxing on the deck of an unidentified single funnelled passenger/cargo liner while at sea. The ship has an auxiliary sailing rig and her fore topsails are set above a loosely furled fore course. She has a raised forecastle with an upturned boat on it. Passengers are sitting by the ship's rail looking inboard at two men playing leapfrog. Other men are sitting on the deck in the foreground. The artist is looking forward along the port side from abreast the mainmast. A Gould copy of a vertical format photographic print. The ship, the artist, the engraver and the date are not given.
