Rothesay (1957)

A quarter plate negative. On board the Royal Navy frigate Rothesay (1957) in the fitting out berth of Yarrow & Co Ltd at Scotstoun, Glasgow. The photographer is on the forecastle looking aft from between the anchor chains. The twin Mark 6 4-5 inch gun turret is ahead of the enclosed bridge and is controlled by the 'frogeye' Mark 6M director mounted atop the bridge. Radar type 977 Q is on a low lattice mast and on the lattice foremast there are the cheese aerial of radar type 978 on the starboard side and the larger cheese aerial for type 293Q radar on the port side. At the top of the foremast is the type FH4 HF/DF Coil. A vertical format negative.
