Rothesay (1957)

A quarter plate negative. The Royal Navy frigate Rothesay (1957) in the fitting out berth of Yarrow & Co Ltd at Scotstoun, Glasgow. The photographer is in an elevated position on the quayside to port abreast the 4.5 inch gun turret looking to starboard and down on the breakwaters and the turret. Four cable reels between the breakwaters are covered. The port side forward reel is for a 3 inch mooring pendant, the starboard side forward reel is for a 3 inch berthing wire, the starboard side aft reel is for a 2½ diameter rope and the large reel on the port side is for a 4 inch F.S.W.R. hawser. The manhole in the watertight hatch abaft the gun turret is open.
