Rothesay (1957)

A quarter plate negative. The Royal Navy frigate Rothesay (1957) in the fitting out berth of Yarrow & Co Ltd at Scotstoun, Glasgow. The photographer is in an elevated position on the quayside to port abreast the 4.5 inch gun turret looking slightly aft, to starboard and down on the bridge area. The manhole in the watertight hatch abaft the gun turret is open. Nearly all of the fittings are covered, including the inflatable liferafts ahead of the bridge, the T.A.S. sights and azimuth repeaters in the bridge wings, the air lookout sights on either side abaft the bridge roof, the G.D.O. sight and communication panels on the enclosed bridge top and the signal projectors on platforms either side of the Mark 6M 'frogeye' director. Abaft the director on a short lattice mast is the aerial for the Type 977Q radar. The pendant number F107 is on the hull side.
