Yarmouth (1959) as fitted after refit
A 2¾ x 2¼ film negative. On board the Type 12 frigate Yarmouth (1959) alongside the South-West Wall in Portsmouth Dockyard. This is inside the senior rates mess on the starboard side of 2 deck between 16 and 21½ stations at the aft end close to the ship's side looking forward. Two 5 gallon kegs of beer are stowed behind on of the bunks. A fur coat in hanging on the kit lockers on the left. A paperback book is on the nearest bunk. A hand written list with the negative originally identified this as 'Senior ratings kit locker space from door to port' but then amended the description to 'Senior ratings mess.' Admiralty Service Drawing Number 955655/2 of 2 certified 18/10/68 shows this space as being the senior rates mess.
