Yarmouth (1959) under construction
A 3¼x4¼ glass plate negative. The Type 12 frigate Yarmouth (1959) under construction in the East Yard of John Brown & Co Ltd's shipyard at Clydebank. The photographer is looking down, aft and to starboard from a crane on the port side of the berth showing prefabricated sections of the keel and lower hull on the building blocks on the berth. The sections 42 to 59 are in place and supported on timber struts. A small group of men are working inside the hull near station 53. The building blocks for the next sections of hull are in place. On the adjoining berth in the background is the tanker Lincoln (1958), yard number 707, under construction. On the right a large precast stern frame is on its side, presumably waiting to be fitted to the tanker British Judge (1959). The tide is high.
