A 4¾x3½ glass plate negative. The Type 12 frigate Yarmouth (1959) under construction in the East Yard of John Brown & Co Ltd's shipyard at Clydebank. The photographer is on a crane at the end of the adjoining berth looking down and forward at the forward part of the ship. The hull and deck plating, including the 01 deck, is complete. A large number of gas cylinders are on number 1 deck in the region of 44 to 46 stations and welding is taking place on 01 deck. Everything aft of station 62 is out of the picture. Scaffolding has been erected outside the hull. On the right hand berth is the early construction of the cargo liner Clan Macindoe (1959), yard number 712. On the berth to port is the bottom plating of the passenger/cargo liner Transvaal Castle (1961), yard number 720, which was laid down 19 January 1959. A vertical format image.
