A 4x5 glass plate negative. Guests gathered on the launching platform in the East Yard of John Brown & Co Ltd's shipyard at Clydebank after the naming and launching of the Type 12 frigate Yarmouth (1959), taken from abreast the left side of the berth. The ship's sponsor, Mrs Maureen Catherine Allan, is holding a bouquet of carnations and freesias and is standing by the microphone looking down the vacant slip. On her right are Sir James McFadyen McNeill, Deputy Chairman, and Lord Aberconway, Chairman of John Brown & Co Ltd.
