The photographer is looking down, to port and slightly forward showing the starboard side of the ship. Work is proceeding on the air lookout position and the director support tower above the bridge. A pontoon is alongside at about station 48. Everything forward of station 18 and aft of station 53 is out of the picture. In the background is the dock engineers shop with the plumbers shop behind it and the bottom plating of the tanker Kent (1960), yard number 708, on the berth beyond.
